Artwork approach
Working primarily with acrylic and oil on canvas, my paintings are fundamentally about identity, perception and sexuality. I am interested in how we look at ourselves in the world, and, how we perceive each other within our own realities, as well as, how our sexuality defines and drives us, shaping the world around us.
With a love of the figure and the potential it embodies, I use masks and blurred double exposure imagery to convey a sense of hidden identity and the idea that our own realities and perceptions are all very different, even when experiencing the same moment or event. I am fascinated by the human condition, the debates that surround it and what the very essence of life is, and, try to capture these moments through my work, whether this is a candid moment in time or a distorted view on reality.
